| Well, it is official! MY TEACHER WORK SAMPLE IS OVER!!!!!! Well...to be precise, my teaching of my TWS is over....HOWEVER, I still have to finish all of the billions of pages of paperwork over it. O well, it has to be turned in Wednesday, so I guess I need to get busy!
The kids were great all of the days I taught except one. They all were fried from all of the earlier regular classroom testing (on Friday). But overall I am extremely pleased with my kids work and what I think they have learned over the past 2 weeks. I still have to give the post test, so I guess that will be the true test!
Only 3 more days until this semester is over!! YAY!!!!
| I LOVE MY CLASS!!! School here at PCES is going wonderful! I am in the middle of my teacher worksample and life is crazy right now, to say the least. It is amazing how much time it takes to brainstorm lessons, plan lessons, prepare for lesson, teach the lesson, and grade the lesson! I think sometimes though that next year will not be quite as difficult when it comes to preparing lessons. Here, all of the lessons are planned out already and you just follow the pre-made plans. However, sometimes I think that there are better ways to teach the material than the way it is laid out! Whatever the case may be, I do know that next year's lesson plans will not be SOOO extensive...and I am PSYCHED about that!
My unit is on oberservation and we are doing a lot of fun lessons where the kids have to use their senses and observe and then form conclusions. I will post a sample lesson on Thursday!
| I forgot how entertaining kids in costumes can be! Halloween was great here at PCES!! The day after however, was not as great! The kids were in horrible moods from lack of sleep and on complete sugar high! We got through it though and it ended up being fine. Only 3 kids pulled lights! haha I started my TWS this week. My lessons are going good, I'm just ready to get through it. I'll post some pictures soon Dr. Lyons...promise! All is well at PCES....soooo....back to the classroom I go! | | |
| School life is in FULL swing here at PCES. For the next 3 weeks I am taking over all of Jamie's responsibilities...it should be interesting. I changed my site for my technology class...so all of my posts from now on will be about my class! I hope to have pictures up soon! The teacher worksample is turning out to be a major headache. I still have sooo much work to do on it! I'm excited for the kids though because I have some really fun lessons planned! My unit is on "observation" so we are doing some really fun "sight seeing" activities!! I'll keep you posted on how the teaching life is treating me for the next few weeks! | | |
| UPDATE: While I realize I have not written in months...I must confess I am a busy lady!!
So here I sit at Putnam County Elementary...WAY TOO EARLY in the morning...watching 1st graders peck away with their little pencils trying to write words that, for the most part, I can't read...and listening to songs I haven't heard in years! Student teaching has been in full swing now for 3 weeks. The kids are great...but this getting up at 5:45 has got to stop! I think I'm going to go crazy!!! I completely did not even realize how much energy and time went into "teaching", it is so much more than people realize. Yeah...so...that is all I have been doing for the past 3 weeks. Overall it is going great though. I am enjoying myself, it is just hard to get used to.
Conclusion: Stay in school as long as possible...you have the rest of your natural life to have a job. While I am excited about this next phase of my life that is beginning...I must admit that parts of it suck terribly...and work is one of those parts!
